Passion Week Locations

We visited some of the locations around Jerusalem that are significant to the week leading up to the crucification of Christ. It is amazing to reflect on Christ’s sacrifice for the whole world and to see these places first-hand, especially as we prepare to celebrate Resurrection Sunday in a couple of weeks back home.

View of Jerusalem from inside the Dominus Flevit, church built over site where Jesus wept over Jerusalem.
Walking down the Palm Sunday road.
Garden of Gethsemane.
Rock where Jesus agonized before being arrested.
Thorn tree on the Mt. of Olives . . . Jesus’ crown of thorns could have been woven from these.

En Gedi, Qumran, the Dead Sea

We started the morning climbing the falls of En Gedi where David hid from Saul. From there we took the tram to the top of Masada. What a view and what an amazing slice of history this old fortress represents. From there we floated in the Dead Sea. Bus 8 is great!!

Mount of Olives

Early Saturday morning we arrived at the Mountain of Olives and began to take in the amazing view across to the Old City on the other side of the Kidron Valley.

Barry reminded us the the “you” in 1 Corinthians 3:16 (“you are God’s temple”) refers not to each individual believer but to all of us together (“you’all”). Truly, God’s dwelling place is now amongst his people.
